Opening Hidden Host Events is my lifelong, dream come true. I’ve been making floor plans and playing bride for as long as I can remember. (many childhood memories of me wearing a toilet paper veil and coming down the hallway to "Here Comes The Bride" over and over again). Growing up, I used to buy wedding magazines with the money I earned selling flowers and lemonade in front of my grandparent’s house and could spend hours looking at the beautiful wedding photos and playing dress up. I would get all dressed up in one of the fancy dresses I purchased at the nearest thrift store (that were always a few sizes too big on me) and imagine that I was twirling around on the dance floor at a picture perfect wedding.
I decided to open Hidden Host Events after working as a wedding coordinator for a world class wedding venue in Newport, Rhode Island. From managing banquets to working as an event planner for one of the best hospitality companies in New England, I have over a decade of experience in the event world. I never knew wedding planning was my passion until I was just about to leave the industry, I was going to school for nursing at the time and working as a banquet server to pay for school. One day, in the middle of setting up for an event, I had an epiphany. I was suddenly overwhelmed with a longing feeling for creativity, events and décor – I was in the middle of setting up for an event and already missing it! I knew right away that this was my calling and immediately started pushing my way into the sales department to learn more about planning luxury weddings and events. These experiences influence my approach when planning and designing weddings and special events.
Every wedding or special event is unique and everyone has their own story, style and vision of how the day should flow. I love coming up with creative ways to incorporate our client's personalities into their event. Personal touches are important and part of what make weddings and special events memorable. I love to hear “This is SO them!” as guests are walking into an event that we helped plan. When we hear those words, we know we've done our job.
I think my overall FAVORITE part of planning weddings and events is showing my client their reception space before we let their guests into the room. I love the excitement and amazement when they see their vision come to life!
